# Product video from multiple photos: shots, order, length

Make one product video from several photos: pick four to six shots, put them in order, turn each into a clip, check the product matches, then join them.

_October 12, 2026. Written with AI from the sources listed below, and checked automatically before it went live._

To make one product video from several photos, turn each photo into its own short clip. Then join the clips in the order a buyer wants to see them. Four to six stills fill a reel of 15 to 30 seconds, two of the lengths [Instagram lets you pick for a Reel](https://sproutsocial.com/insights/instagram-reels-guide).

This post covers how long the video should be and which shots to pick, in what order. It also shows how to make each clip and what that costs, how to keep the product looking the same from clip to clip, and how to join the clips at the end.

## How long should the product video be?

Start with where the video will run. [Instagram Reels use a 9:16 frame](https://sproutsocial.com/insights/instagram-reels-guide), and 15 and 30 seconds are both [lengths you can pick when you make one](https://sproutsocial.com/insights/instagram-reels-guide).

Listings take video too now. Google Merchant Center has a [video link attribute for adding product visuals beyond your images](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/15216925). Those [videos have to run between 6 and 240 seconds](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/15216925) and be [720p (1280x720) or sharper](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/15216925). Google [announced the attribute in its 2026 product data update](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/16989427), and videos sent through it [became eligible to serve from June 30, 2026](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/16989427).

A reel of 15 to 30 seconds works for both. It's long enough to show the product properly and short enough that people watch to the end. Make a tall version for social. If you also want it on a listing, make a wide version and check it against the listing rules before you upload.

## Which photos should you pick, and in what order?

Each still should tell the buyer something new. Put them in the order a buyer would look at the product in a shop:

1. **The hook.** The whole product, clean, on its own. This is the first thing people see, so make it your best photo.
2. **The detail.** Close in on what you'd point at in person: the stitching, the texture, the label, the clasp.
3. **In use.** In a hand, on a body, on a counter. This is where the buyer pictures owning it.
4. **The context.** The product where it lives, so the size is clear.
5. **A second angle or colour.** The back, the inside, or the other colourway.
6. **The close.** The hero again, held still, with room for your words.

If you only have four, keep the hook, the detail, the in-use shot and the close. Split the time evenly. A [15-second Reel](https://sproutsocial.com/insights/instagram-reels-guide) gives four shots a little under four seconds each. A 30-second one gives six shots five seconds each.

Give each shot its own camera move, so the cuts feel planned rather than random:

| Shot | What it shows | Camera move |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Hook | The whole product | Push in |
| Detail | Texture, label, stitching | Shift focus |
| In use | Hand, body or counter | Slide left |
| Context | Where it lives, its size | Pull out |
| Second angle | Back, inside or colourway | Slide right |
| Close | Hero shot, space for text | Hold still |

## How do you turn each photo into a clip?

Give every still the same treatment so the clips feel like one set:

1. Make or pick each still in Icarus, with the same saved product in each one.
2. Choose to make it a video, and describe the motion in one plain line.
3. Open Camera and pick the move from your shot plan, on the video models that offer it. Or leave it on Auto and the model picks.
4. Generate, keep the best take, and download it.

Keep the motion small. The camera moves and the product stays put. A line like this is enough:

> Slow push in on the leather tote bag on the oak table, soft window light, the bag stays still

Try this prompt in Icarus: https://withicarus.com/dashboard?prompt=Slow%20push%20in%20on%20the%20leather%20tote%20bag%20on%20the%20oak%20table%2C%20soft%20window%20light%2C%20the%20bag%20stays%20still

The [photo to video page](https://withicarus.com/features/photo-to-video) walks through the same steps. You can also start a clip from a plain description if you're missing a still.

On the AI Icarus starts you on, a 10-second clip costs $1.19 at 480p, $2.56 at 720p and $6.30 at 1080p. Five clips at $2.56 come to $12.80, and then you trim each one to the length you planned. If you'd rather pay by the second, Seedance 2.0 makes clips from a photo or prompt from $0.08 a second, so 30 seconds at $0.08 a second come to $2.40. You see each shot's price before you make it, and if a shot fails, the money comes back by itself. Every plan and price is on the [pricing page](https://withicarus.com/pricing).

## How do you keep the product the same in every clip?

Drift is where a multi-photo video goes wrong. The bag is tan in the first clip and brown in the third, or the logo moves. Buyers notice, and the reel stops looking like your product.

Fix it before you make any video. Save the product once and tag it in every still. [Product pinning](https://withicarus.com/features/exact-product) keeps your real colour, logo and stitching in each image. If a person is in the shots, face locking keeps the same face throughout, and when you turn an image into a video, the model comes with it. To keep the light and background the same across the set, save them once as a [studio](https://withicarus.com/features/brand-studios) and pick it for every still. Make all the clips on the same video model and at the same resolution.

Then lay the clips side by side and check each one against the real product:

- [ ] The logo sits in the same place and reads the same
- [ ] The colour matches the real product
- [ ] Stitching, print and hardware haven't changed
- [ ] The face is the same person in every clip
- [ ] The light comes from the same side in clips that sit next to each other
- [ ] Nothing new appears on the product partway through a clip

Compare the last frame of each clip with the first frame of the next one. That's where a mismatch shows. If a clip fails, remake it instead of cutting around it.

## How do you join the clips and finish the reel?

Any video editor on your phone or computer will do this. Follow your shot plan:

1. Drop the clips onto the timeline in order, hook first.
2. Trim each one to its planned length. Cut away the first and last moments, where motion starts and stops.
3. Cut while the camera is moving, so one clip flows into the next.
4. Let the closing shot hold still, and put your headline or offer over it.
5. Add music, or keep the sound from a clip that has it.
6. Export a tall version for social, plus a wide one if you need it for a listing.

If you want the words inside the final frame itself, make that last still on Ideogram 4.5, which is for posters, logos and text, and write the headline in quotes in your prompt. Before you upload to Merchant Center, check the finished file against [Google's length and resolution rules](https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/15216925) yourself.

You can try it with your own product photos in Icarus.

## Questions

### How many photos do I need to make a product video?

Four to six stills make a reel of 15 to 30 seconds, with one shot for each thing the buyer should see. Pick the whole product, a detail, the product in use and a closing shot first. Then add a second angle or the product in its setting if you have them.

### Can I make a product video from just one photo?

Yes. Icarus turns any image you make into a short video, or makes one from a plain description. One photo gives you one clip, so you'll need more stills for a reel that cuts between shots.

### How long should each clip be in a product reel?

Split the reel's length by the number of shots. Six shots in a 30-second reel come to five seconds each, which is enough for one camera move and a clean cut. Trim off the start and end of each clip, where the motion begins and stops.

### How do I stop the product changing between clips?

Save the product once and tag it in every still, so product pinning keeps its real colour, logo and stitching. Use one model, one studio and one video model for the whole set. Then compare the last frame of each clip with the first frame of the next before you join them.

### Can I use the video in my ads and store?

Yes. Every image and video you make in Icarus is yours for commercial use, with no licensing fees and no attribution. Check each platform's own video rules before you upload.
